Can one bill for hearing screenings done at health fairs?
Answer
Maybe. 92551 is the code for a hearing screening. Medicare does not cover hearing screenings regardless of setting, situation or provider. As a result, Medicare beneficiaries would be financially responsible for the cost of the screening. For patients with private insurance, you would have to consult your payer fee schedule, payer contract and payer guidance regarding testing at a secondary location.
