Jamie Sklarski joined Advanced Bionics in 2014. Prior to joining the Northeast team, Dr. Sklarski worked as an audiologist at the Connecticut Healthcare VA Medical Center Cochlear Implant Program. She spent 5 years at this program, and as the Cochlear Implant Program Coordinator, worked diligently to ensure that CI recipients and their families received the most advanced technology and expert clinical care. Dr. Sklarski received her degree in audiology from the University of Buffalo.
Edie Gibson, Au.D., CCC-A is a Clinical Specialist for the Southeast Region at Advanced Bionics. Prior to joining AB in 2005, Dr. Gibson obtained an MS in Audiology from Gallaudet University and a Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Florida. She originally practiced in Atlanta area cochlear implant programs providing diagnostic, cochlear implant and hearing aid services to pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Gibson’s work at AB has included patient education and cochlear implant clinician support through training and clinical management of difficult cases in Northern Florida.
Kristina Plewes joined Advanced Bionics in 2015. Kristina previously worked for Advanced Bionics from 2005 through 2009 in the Auditory Technical Services department and she is thrilled to be back with the Advanced Bionics family. Kristina also previously worked as a cochlear implant audiologist at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta Canada for 5 years as well as 6.5 years at a private practice clinic in Victoria, British Columbia Canada diagnosing hearing loss, programming hearing aids and worked with a wide variety of Phonak hearing aids and wireless technologies. Kristina received her degree at the University of British Columbia.
Cochlear Implant Consumer Specialist
Krista Heavner is a Cochlear Implant Consumer Specialist for Advanced Bionics, providing support and education for cochlear implant candidates, recipients and professionals in the southeast part of the US. Prior to this position, Krista was a consultant for deaf and hard of hearing with the Division of Exceptional Children with the NC Department of Public Instruction. She has experience both in the educational setting and in the clinical setting, providing services to children and adults.
Mike Skrip joined Advanced Bionics in 2012 and is the Senior Clinical Specialist in the Northeast Region in North America. Prior to joining AB, Dr. Skrip was the Associate Director of Audiology at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA. During his 23 year career at MEEI, Dr. Skrip managed the Hearing Aid and Cochlear Implant Center, overseeing and training an audiology staff of 30 clinicians. Dr. Skrip was also an Adjunct Lecturer at Northeastern University and an Audiology Consultant at Mass General Hospital. He has been an active member of the Massachusetts Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) and served two terms as the Audiology representative on the SLP-Audiology Board of Professional Licensure. Dr. Skrip received degrees from Worcester State University (BS), Syracuse University (MS) and AT Still University (AuD).
Krysta Gasser, Au.D, CCC-A is a Clinical Specialist with Advanced Bionics. She received her honors undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University and her Doctor of Audiology degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She started her career as an audiologist providing intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring for neurosurgical and orthopedic surgical services at various area hospitals in St. Louis before returning to cochlear implants to work for Advanced Bionics in 2018. Her current responsibilities at Advanced Bionics include sales, training, and audiological and technical support for area cochlear implant audiologists and surgeons.
