Alzheimer’s Association leader shares expert insights

Eden Prairie, Minnesota (June 26, 2023) – Starkey Sound Bites dedicated its latest episode to exploring the research on the link between dementia and hearing loss. The interview featured expert insights from Dr. Heather Snyder, Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs at the Alzheimer’s Association. Research continues to show connections between dementia and hearing loss, including a recent study published in The Lancet, which found that treating hearing loss could mean reducing the risk of dementia. Earlier this month, new research from the University of Rochester found a new possible link between Alzheimer’s disease and hearing loss.

“At Starkey, we are committed to supporting organizations like the Alzheimer's Association, that are relentlessly working to help people with Alzheimer’s disease, their families and the cause to find a cure,” said Starkey Chief Compliance Officer Michael Scholl, who also serves on the nonprofit’s Minnesota-North Dakota board of directors. “We greatly appreciate Dr. Snyder for sharing her expertise with the listeners of our podcast. The science is complex, and she provides helpful context and insights for hearing care providers who are looking to better understand this topic, which can have a major impact on the lives of their patients.”

June marks the Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day awareness campaign. To listen to the full interview with Dr. Snyder, visit StarkeySoundBites.com or find the episode wherever you get your podcasts.
