The article will discuss some of the research that generated the electomagnetic, Piezoelectro, and electromechanical technologies that facilitated the early middle ear implantable hearing devices. Special emphasis is given to the development, implantation, candidacy for the Otologics Fully Implantable MET Device. A discussion of the implications for clinicians will also be presented.
