Presenter: Antony Joseph AuD, PhD

Antony Joseph is a faculty member at Illinois State University (ISU). A licensed practitioner for over 30 years, Dr. Joseph is a National Academies of Practice (NAP) Distinguished Scholar and Fellow, is Chair of the NAP Audiology Academy and the VP of Education for the Illinois Academy of Audiology. Besides teaching, and research specializing in hearing protection, blast-related hearing loss, and epidemiology, he is a clinical supervisor at ISU and leads the campus Hearing Loss Prevention Program. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and a 24-year active duty retired Naval Officer who served as Clinic Director for one of the US Navy’s largest outpatient centers, overseas as a Director of Public Health (Japan), and deployed in support of the Operation Enduring Freedom Campaign as a Medical Director. 

Presenter: Elaine Mormer PhD

Dr. Mormer is Professor and Director of Audiology Clinical Education in the Department of Communication Science and Disorders at the University of Pittsburgh.   She is an audiologist and co-developer of the “Championing Hearing Using Accessible Medication Experts at the Community Pharmacy” (CHAMP) certificate course for pharmacy students and professionals. She has been an interprofessional collaborator across health professions, through grant funded teaching, mentoring and research. Dr. Mormer has co-authored a number of articles addressing OTC hearing aids and the role of pharmacists in promoting hearing care.

Presenter: Michael Schulte PhD

Since 2004, Michael Schulte has been with Hörzentrum Oldenburg GmbH, Germany, where he has been responsible for audiological studies in publically funded projects as well as in cooperation with the industry. In 2002, he received his Ph.D. from the Biomagnetism Centre at the Institute of Experimental Audiology, University of Münster, Germany. From 2002 to 2003, he worked as a postdoc at the F.C. Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging, Nijmegen, Netherlands. Michael Schulte's research interest is on the evaluation of hearing systems with a special focus on listening effort.
